Astronomers are investigating a possible alien signal

A strong signal coming from the area where the star HD 164595, a star similar to our Sun located in the constellation of Hercules, is found, has astronomers puzzled, reports Observer.

The star HD 164595 is located 95 light years from Earth and has an estimated age of 6.3 billion years.

Most scientists suggest that the origin of this emission is likely the result of a natural phenomenon known as ‘microlensing’, in which the gravity of a star increases and sends signals from another source.

instead, several experts have requested the Search for Alien Intelligence (SETI) center to carry out a closer follow-up to confirm the origin of the emission through the Allen Telescope Array (California, USA). ) and the Boquete Optical Observatory, in Panama.

On the Centauri Dreams website, Paul Gilster explains that the Russian radio telescope RATAN-600, located in Zelenchúkskaya (Karacháyevo-Cherkessia, Russian North Caucasus), detected the signal for the first time on May 15, 2015 and insists that, although “no one is mentioning that it is the work of an alien civilization”, the topic is “worthy of more essay”.

For his part, SETI astronomer Seth Shostak points out that the signal could be caused by natural sources or even by some terrestrial interference.
