Qantas has issued an apology after a technical issue during a Sydney to Tokyo flight led to passengers, including families with children, being shown an R-rated movie. The flight’s entertainment system malfunctioned, preventing passengers from choosing individual films, and leaving the crew with limited options for in-flight viewing.
To accommodate passengers, the cabin crew consulted with some of them before selecting a film. Based on requests, the movie Daddio, starring Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn, was chosen to be played for the entire flight. However, the film’s mature content was not suitable for young viewers, leading to complaints from parents on board.
Qantas responded by apologizing for the incident, and acknowledging the concerns raised by families. The airline also assured passengers that it would be reviewing its entertainment policies to ensure appropriate content for all age groups is available, even in the event of technical issues. This incident brings attention to the challenges airlines face in catering to a wide range of passenger needs, particularly when unforeseen problems occur.
