Apple Watch Series 10

The Apple Watch Series 10 is an exciting version that brings significant improvements across the board. Whether you are a lifelong user like me or a first-time customer, this iteration is worth considering. I have been using the Apple Watch for about a decade, and it has become an integral part of my daily routine. I rely on it for almost everything, from morning workouts to accepting calls while on the road. I recently upgraded from Series 9 to Series 10, and the differences were obvious immediately.

Let me explain why the Series 10 is such a remarkable upgrade, especially if you already own a previous model.

The Design: Sleeker and Lighter

At first glance, the Apple Watch Series 10 may appear similar to its predecessors. But once you put it on, the differences become obvious. The watch is thinner and lighter, which may appear little, but when you wear it all day, these modifications have a significant influence. Apple has also lowered the size of the digital crown somewhat, which contributes to the slimmer appearance.

The new Jet Black colour in the aluminium model is striking, with a mirror-like shine. The titanium variant maintains its luxury appearance, while the Jet Black is a new and attractive addition.

Display: Brighter and Bigger

The screen is where you will notice significant changes. The OLED Retina LTPO display is now 40% brighter at certain angles, which is particularly visible outside. The always-on display now refreshes once every second (rather than once per minute), making animations smoother and more energy-efficient.

Apple claims that the Series 10 has the largest display ever seen on an Apple Watch, even bigger than the Ultra 2. This additional screen space makes typing on the watch easier. I do not typically type long messages on my wrist, but when I do, the larger keyboard on this device results in fewer errors. It is a minor but beneficial quality-of-life enhancement.

The Series 10 may not reinvent the wheel, but it does improve it significantly. From voice isolation to faster charging, the new model improves the Apple Watch formula, making it even more dependable, powerful, and pleasurable to use.

Performance: Faster and more efficient

The Series 10’s new S10 CPU improves performance dramatically. Swiping through apps or checking notifications feels faster and more responsive on the watch. If you are upgrading from a previous model or even the Series 9, you will notice an increase in speed.

Apple has also increased its charging capabilities. The quick charging option charges from 0 to 80% in about an hour, which is really useful if you forget to charge overnight. While the battery life is similar to that of the Series 9 (around a day and a half with regular use), the faster charging more than makes up for it.

New features include voice isolation and training load.

Voice isolation is a game changer for accepting phone calls on the go. On previous Apple Watches, I regularly had to interrupt conversations short because background noise made it difficult for the other person to hear. No more. This feature enables the watch to filter out ambient noise, which I tested in crowded areas such as the gym and even a packed market. Every time, the feedback was the same: my speech came through clearly and without interruption.

Another remarkable feature is the training load, which is very useful for fitness enthusiasts. It monitors the intensity and duration of your workouts over the course of a week and compares them to your performance from the previous month. This allows you to assess whether you are pushing yourself too hard or if you can put in more effort. It is especially beneficial for documenting long-distance activities such as trekking, as well as for individuals who prioritize cardio and strength training. It is a tool that can help you make better informed workout choices.
