Another plane collision with a U̳F̳O̳ this case was confirmed by the F̳B̳I̳
(ORDO NEWS) — An American Airlines crew collided with an unidentified flying object over New Mexico on February 21, 2019. American Airlines has confirmed a bizarre incident in which “a long, cylindrical object resembling a cruise missile” swooped over an Airbus A320.
American Airlines Flight 2292 was en route from Cincinnati to Phoenix on Sunday afternoon when it made contact with the mysterious object about 11 kilometers above northeastern New Mexico. Radio amateur Steve Douglas intercepted the transmission of Flight 2292 on the Albuquerque Center frequency of 127.850 MHz or 134.750 MHz.
In the broadcast you can hear below, an American Airlines pilot said:
— Do you have any objects in the air? We just had something pass right above us. I don’t believe I’m saying this, but it looked like a long cylindrical object, like a cruise missile, it was moving very fast right above us.
Albuquerque Center did not respond to the pilot’s request because local air traffic was interfering, Douglas wrote on his blog. American Airlines Flight 2292 landed safely in Phoenix shortly after this “meeting”.
American Airlines later confirmed the authenticity of the transmission:
“After discussing with our flight crew and obtaining additional information, we can confirm that this radio transmission was from American Airlines Flight 2292 on February 21st. For any additional questions regarding this, we recommend that you contact the F̳B̳I̳.”
F̳B̳I̳ spokesman Frank Fisher said the bureau was “aw̳a̳r̳e of the incident.” He continued, “While our policy is not to confirm or deny investigations, the F̳B̳I̳ is constantly working with our federal, state, local, and regional partners to share intelligence and protect the public.”
The FAA also released a brief statement confirming the incident:
“The pilot reported seeing the object over New Mexico shortly after noon local time on Sunday, February 21, 2021. The air traffic controllers did not see any objects in the area on their radars.”
