In 1987 on Ilkley Moor in Yorkshire, UK, a retired policeman was walking across the fells to go and visit his father-in-law when he claimed to see a being that was not from this world, as well as witness a U̳F̳O̳ quickly ascend into the sky before shooting away at astonishing speeds.
Ilkley Moor in Yorkshire, UK, is just one of 14 moors that are all joined together to form the larger Rombald’s Moor. The Moors are ripe with history and are actually home to the second highest concentration of A̳n̳c̳i̳e̳n̳t̳ carved stones in Europe, some dating all the way back to the Neolithic period, Ilkley Moor also boasts the Twelve Apostles, which is an A̳n̳c̳i̳e̳n̳t̳ stone circle.
On the misty morning of December 1, 1987, Philip Spencer, a retired policeman was walking across the moor on the way to visit his father-in-law at his home, this was a walk he had done many times before.
He had taken his camera with him in the hope of capturing some of the early morning scenic beauty that Ilkley Moor has to offer, unknowing at the time that the next picture he would take would make news headlines all over the country.
As to be expected up on the moors at that time of year, a thick mist was covering the landscape, making navigation relatively difficult.
Whilst Philip Spencer was navigating through the fog using a compass, he said that he could see in the distance what he believed to just be another walker, that is until he got closer and was amazed to see that this was no walker, and was a being like nothing he had ever seen before, he claimed that the creature was waving an arm at him gesturing for him to not go any closer.
Spencer quickly scrambled for his camera and managed to take a picture of the supposed a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳ entity before it ran away, although the image is not clear it does appear to show some form of human type creature.
After the photo was taken, Spencer claims that the a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳ fled, and that he made an attempt to try and follow it.
After losing sight of the creature he reported that he had seen a metallic looking craft with a domed roof rise up from the moor and disappeared into the sky.
When Spencer finally reached the home of his father-in-law he noticed that the village clock as well as all the clocks in the house were an hour ahead of the time that his watch read, which led him to question whether he had also been a victim of an a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳ abduction, as he estimated the whole incident had only taken several minutes to conclude.
The photograph that was taken by Spencer appears to show a blurred a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳ creature of some kind, however, it is not the greatest quality.
It is worth mentioning that this image has been analysed hundreds of times and experts concluded that the figure had not been superimposed and shows no resemblance to any of the wildlife that occupy the moors.
It is a shame that Spencer never managed to take a photo of the craft that he claimed to see.
Ilkley Moor has one of the highest densities of U̳F̳O̳ reports anywhere in the UK, many of which are reported by walkers, most frequently around the area of the Twelve Apostles stone circle.
Although the photo is not clear, the story being backed up with photographic evidence of what Philip Spencer claimed he saw that day has ranked the Ilkley Moor a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳ as one of the most important U̳F̳O̳/A̳l̳i̳e̳n̳ sightings in the UK.
It is also worth noting that Philip Spencer has made no money from his claims and has never attempted to try and bring any fame with what he has said, he has always stood by his story and claims that what he saw was genuine.
This is another fascinating claim of U̳F̳O̳ and a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳ sightings from the UK, it makes the story much harder to discredit when the witness has attempted to achieve absolutely nothing from his original claims.
